In thinking about.....

I'm just a girl, searching for where God wants me next, but living constanly in the present, reflecting on the past enough to see hope for the future.

A montana Adventure

So this morning I write from my desk at shcool, and I am so thankful for God's gracious protection on the roads. We finally got some snow here in good 'ole montana, i would like to mention that we have not gotten snow scince two weeks before Christmas. So that was an exciting day. The other teacher, a dear friend of mine, and I went to Great Falls (an hr away) for a concert. The concert was something out of the ordinary for me, but more to come on that later. So we head out of town, with in the first couple of miles we see blowing snow and we realize that maybe the roads could get worse, but we press on....
We are thinking about good coffee and having good converstaion, maybe going a few MPH less then normal when we hit the outskirts of Great Falls.
We are going to take the next exit, so we stay on the road... or so we thought we would... in reality we hit some part of slippery snow and start to slide around a little bit. Bri does a good job of correcting the car, but it is too late and we slide butt first into the ditch. We hit a reflector post and cut it in half... this made for an intersitng looking side of the interstate, but we land facing the direction we came from and on all four tires, this proves to be a better position then i was in last year a little bit earlier in the year. WE are both ok, maybe a little shakin, but pretty good.
Thankfully a snow plow is following right behind us and pulls to the side of the road to make sure we are ok. He is tall, maybe 18--or so he looks, and is wearing tight wranglers, a large belt buckly with a W on the middle. He has a hat, that matches my first graders hat and his family, and it has ear flaps that can be tied on the the top of hte hat, and are indeed tied on top. He gives us direction to get out of the ditch and we make it safely up the hill onto the interstate, we turn around and head into town for the concert.
Now if you remember correctly, i live near an air force base and Bri and I's boyfriends work on the base, but are currently both on TDY (temporary duty assingment) and so we go to this show called "Tops in Blue" which is a show chior kinda show that goes through the last 60 years of the air force. This turns out to be quite a fun time, but very strange to me when they sing songs that show national pride and everybody stands up and looks to the flag or raises thier hands or shouts... in someways it reminded me of a worship event where people shout out and get excited about a particular worship song.... but instead they were all excited about the flag. I suppose they were more excited about what the flag stands for then the flag itself. But it was intresting, prehaps the most american thing i have ever been to in my entire life. It felt like the fourth of July in january...
So that was my montanna, american adventure...
Three cheers for the country!
